The genre-spanning musical legacy of Terezín is the focus of our final concert-with-commentary of the season. From the raucous, satirical, and nostalgic cabaret songs that circulated around the Nazi "mock" concentration camp, to the Yiddish songs of Viktor Ullmann and the chamber music of Krása and Schulhoff. Czech composers Viktor Ullmann and Hans Krása are remembered for their operas – for this program, MOR shines a light on two lesser-known works. Schulhoff's audaciously original voice whose fascinating career was brought to an abrupt end in a Bavarian concentration camp. His string quartets reflect the influence of Slavonic folksong and the dance music of the day.
