Testimonies for Tomorrow: MOR Commissions

Approaching our sixteenth season, Music of Remembrance continues to enjoy an international reputation for commissioning and programming contemporary American music based on Holocaust themes. MOR's commissioning program creates testimonies for tomorrow from some of today's leading composers and builds a living bridge between Holocaust musicians and a new generation of artists and audiences.

To date, MOR has commissioned and given premieres of eleven works from American composers Jake Heggie, Lori Laitman, Thomas Pasatieri, Paul Schoenfield, Gerard Schwarz, and David Stock. In 2009, MOR commissioned a new work from Israeli composer Aharon Harlap, and in 2011, a new work from Israeli composer Betty Olivero. MOR has also commissioned two dances from American choreographer Donald Byrd.
