Julia Benzinger
Mezzo SopranoHaving grown up in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, Julia Benzinger has a deep-seated passion for the arts, nature, science and technology. Her goal is to bridge the four through innovation to cultivate collaborative works to realise a brighter, more sustainable future for all life. For almost 20 years, she has been a leading soloist in opera houses around the globe and is known as a dynamic interpreter of a wide range of dramatic and vocal styles. Off the stage, she has led corporate outdoor excursions and taught backcountry cooking courses for Recreational Equipment, Inc (REI). For numerous schools and nonprofits, Julia has created interdisciplinary experiences to bridge culture with history, science, and nature, the highlights of which include a large fundraising event that heightened wine tasting with curated live operatic and classical vocal music. She has also co-directed concerts for Seattle Art Song Society and has worked with the education and outreach departments of Seattle Opera, Sarasota Opera, and Deutsche Oper Berlin.
Julia holds degrees in Opera Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK and Arts and Cultural Management from Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain. She has lived in Italy, Germany, England, and Spain and throughout the United States including Hawai’i, Washington, California, Connecticut, and Florida. She currently resides in Barcelona with her partner and three young sons.
