Sahba Aminikia

Iranian-American composer Sahba Aminikia has described his work as an exploration of the “dichotomy of light and dark.” His varied music has been performed around the world by contemporary classical ensembles, theater troops, film productions, Persian traditional music groups, and jazz bands. Aminikia has received commissions from the Kronos Quartet, Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Symphony Parnassus, San Francisco Conservatory of Music New Music Ensemble, Mobius Trio, Delphi Trio and Living Earth Show. He was artist-in-residence at Kronos Festival 2017, where ten of his works, including four new pieces, were performed. He is the Artistic Director for Flying Carpet Festival, a mobile music festival which serves children in need living in war zones. He is also the Musical Director for Sirkhane, a non-profit organization in southern Turkey that serves around 400,000 refugee and vulnerable children through circus arts and music.
